Citizen Science 4th of July Butterfly Counts

The North American Butterfly Association (NABA) runs a series of butterfly counts around the 4th of July to determine what species are found.  I joined the North Jersey crew at Troy Meadows in Parsippany and diversity of species were discovered within fields and forests.

Included were Appalachian Brown, Silver-spotted Skipper, Gray Haitstreak,  Monarch, Tiger Swallowtail, Black Swallowtail, Pearl Crescent, Cabbage White, Clouded Sulpher, Common Buckeye, Common Wood-Nymph, and many others.
