Back at it hunting mushrooms. The rain and heat flushed out some chicken and oyster within the mighty oak swamp.
Made a visit with Brood X, the great Eastern Brood of periodical cicada.
I enjoyed a trip a few weeks ago and just posted up some video to share. Forecast was for a foot of snow the day prior but we lucked out with just a few inches that melted on the trip. Hooked into a few good brook trout, splake and landlock salmon along the way. It was nice to paddle a solo canoe for the freedom but still have a crew to enjoy camp with.

Ingredients of Wild Leeks, Japanese Knotweed, Ostrich Fern, Morel Mushrooms, Trout, Salmon, Venison and more. Always good convos about ethical harvest, getting the best out of your forage and appreciating the land.
Found a few fish close to home today. I was on the hunt for meat to bring to a wild food and campfire cookery potluck event with chefs, farmers and foragers. My goal was to harvest stocked landlock salmon and rainbow trout. The LLSalmon I caught were recent stockies and need to put the pounds on but the rainbows didn't disappoint. I doubled up on bass outta my hornbeck canoe but they are spawning and so out of season and got a fast release. The highlight for me was both doubling up on the bass and catching all the fish on flies..no trip needed to buy bait.
